In your first intake session, we will gather some information about your life and understand more about the loss and grief you may be experiencing. Additionally, we will have you fill out paperwork that will give us some more background information to help assist in tailoring a personalized treatment plan that caters to your specific needs.

In the sessions, we will:

  • Acknowledge and make space for your pain

  • Accept that grief can be unpredictable and triggered easily

  • Identify further supports

  • Process through your emotional recovery

  • Identify signs of prolonged grief and depression—and provide the necessary next steps if needed

We may also introduce holistic techniques to you to process your loss and move towards wellness. This may include breathing techniques and other mind-body interventions, nutritional psychiatry, and mindfulness. Additionally, we offer medication management to help cope with various symptoms of grief if they are prolonged and disruptive including difficulties with sleep and anxiety.

I do not have time for grief counseling.

We hear this all the time! The truth is, prioritizing your own wellness and finding time, and creating space for your emotional life, will help you use your time in other parts of your life much better. We also offer teletherapy to make attending therapy less time-consuming. Many of our teletherapy clients fit in one session per week for the amount of time it takes to travel to and from our office.

Is it going to be difficult to talk to someone online?

Therapy can certainly feel strange the first time either in person or online. Fortunately, our highly trained and experienced therapists understand this and will do everything they can to help ease any fears you may have. Many of our clients actually prefer being able to see their therapists from the safety and familiarity of their own homes! All of our sessions are through a safe, secure, and compliant platform.
