Cathy Cook
Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW)
Cathy Cook, LCSW, began her social work career in child welfare, then moved to the hospital setting starting on the Mother Baby unit and Neonatal Intensive Care unit. She eventually served as the Director of the Department of Patient and Family Services. Her experience includes individual and group counseling, addiction programming, clinical supervision, and multidisciplinary team leadership. Recognitions include: “National Award for Excellence in Perinatal Social Work”, Gainesville “Social Worker of the Year”, and Florida “Social Work Healthcare Leader of the Year.” Most recently, at Suwannee River Area Health Education Center (SRAHEC) she worked with regional health clinics, homeless clinics, and community hospitals to help them establish best practices in tobacco treatment, including referrals and long-term maintenance of tobacco cessation among patients. Her special interest has been in counseling vulnerable homeless, near-homeless patients, and women’s mental health. She has done several state and national presentations on her work.
